Courtesy is a universal value

An old Chinese saying goes, “courtesy doesn’t cost a penny and yet it is invaluable”. “Courtesy is the one coin you can never have too much of or be stingy with” is a famous quote from John Wansmaker, an American. Regardless of when or where, or so it seems, courtesy is a common value highly praised by people around the world. Kind words are welcome commodity that people never get tired of. People likes you when you are kind. The words “thank you” in English, is commonly understood everywhere and even by people who don’t speak English.

For many people, courtesy is a sign of good family education, a reflection of good character and personality which can get you a long way. It is often the necessary ingredient for resolving conflicts and ties people together. If it is so important, why don’t our parents practice it and hand this down as a heritage from generation to generation.
